Red Herring-politics

All American Citizens Need to Wake up and Fight for our well established Safety Nets! 

 The “GOBP” plan (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/05/paul-ryan-budget-analysis-numbers_n_844946.html)  to reduce the Federal deficit by gutting Medicare and destroying Social Security is a true “red herring” topic of giant proportions. ( Definition of "red herring -  Something intended to divert attention from the real problem or matter at hand; a misleading clue, such as dragging this smoked and cured pungent fish across a trail to confuse search dogs)

The reasons for why the Medicare and Social Security Entitlement Scare by the Right wing is a Red Herring:

-       the Baby Boomers cause huge deficits because they are the largest demographic group in the country, and this is putting a large demand for services and entitlements.  Just look at www.census.gov.

-       Nonetheless,  many of the Boomers will be in their 80’s by 2030, and God rest our souls, will follow by dying off soon after.  When this group moves into Nirvana the demand for services – medicare and Social Security etc – will decrease.  There will also be more younger folks paying into the system, and thus deficits will also decrease.

-       Voila!!  – there is our Red Herring:   The problem of entitlement deficits is only temporary!!!

-       There is no need to dismantle Medicare or Social Security, which has served our elderly for many decades - http://www.ssa.gov/history/

And what I don't get as well, is why Repugs are ok putting wars on the taxpayer's credit card, but not taxpayers' health and wellbeing (medicare)? 

Also, we (middle and upper class) are capable and willing to pay off the debt NOW, instead of putting a great burden on future generations, but this IRRESPONSIBLE EXTREME cabal won't let us generate the necessary revenues.  Look at how smug they are, as the economy is once again taken to the brink due to GOBP efforts. 

 Solutions:

-       Cut back spending on the Military Industrial Complex warned by Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y06NSBBRtY

-       Write and elect congressional representatives who will protect Medicare and Social Security.

-   It may be necessary to raise retirement age up a few years to 69 or 70.  People are healthier and living longer now than when Social Security was passed in the 1930's.   Let's finally update to Soc Sec. and Medicare Version 2+. 

-  Pay for our services with fair tax rates.  Allow the Bush era tax cuts to expire. They are not paid for. Even the middle class can't put off paying our dues forever, to the possible detriment of our whole society and the American Dream. Eliminate tax subsidies for the ultra rich (such as Oil companies, who like to gouge us at Every corner).
